 * Hello,
    I have a problem with this plugin.
 * Every time I turn it on, page load time is extended to a few minutes.
 * WP version: 5.5.1
    Theme: Avada PHP Version: 7.3.11 Server: FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-
   p5 amd64 (Apache)

 * The plugin worked fine until upgrading WP to 5.5.1, and then the page load times
   grew extensively. The plugin does not work with WP 5.5.1!!!

 * Hi,
 * The plugin works; but it does read your HTML and modifies it, so debugging is
   difficult. Unfortunately, you need to try it on a simple install first, and see
   with what plugin or theme it actually doesn’t work.
 * The fact it takes times also depends on your server, the parser used (which can
   be changed through the options).

 * Hello Jordy,
 * thanks for your reply!
 * As I told before, your plugin worked well before, before updating to WP 5.5.1.
   The problem occurred ONLY AFTER updating WP.
 * So, you are saying that it work well with 5.5.1, and blame that te fault is due
   to another plugin or theme. But I’ve not changed those.
 * Also my server provider told me that it was specifically this Gallery Custom
   Links plugin that caused the fault. This very plugin caused a process that first
   slowed down the website and eventually caused the website getting stuck.

 * In GTMetrix it’s showing slow loading time for “wp-admin/admin-ajax.php” (about
   1 second)
    When I deactivate this plugin, the time is decreased to 0.2s I am
   using a fast VPS as a hosting.
 * Maybe what would help is to decrease the number of options (function calls) for
   each single image and make them as default options for all images. Remove all
   options like “Link Target” and “Link Rel” and only leave “Link URL” as the only
   image option.

 * [@lastala](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lastala/) yep – same problem here.
   After updating to 5.5.1 it doesn’t work.
 * Plugin last updated 4 months ago 😉

 * It works [@raintek](https://wordpress.org/support/users/raintek/), but the issues
   could come from so many reasons. With one of the users having issue here, I have
   it tried on my own server, with a fresh new install and the latest version of
   WordPress (it was a week ago). Everything worked and he figured out an issue
   with another plugin.
 * Unfortunately, this plugin depends on how your HTML is written and other things;
   I tried to bring options to it with different HTML parsers. But when it doesn’t
   work, it’s very hard to debug. What it does might look simple at first, but in
   fact this job requires to rewrite parts of the HTML, which isn’t that easy through
   a plugin, especially when every install out there works differently.
 * I need people to help me, and to look a bit at the code.
 * On my side, I always make sur it works with with the latest version of WordPress,
   the main WordPress Gallery, the Meow Gallery, simple images, etc. I assure you,
   it works fine in most cases 🙂

 * It should work.
 * 5 sites with same theme and plugins. Any only one has a problem with gallery
   links after update to 5.5.1.
 * After turning on the plugin website is just going down. Have to go via PHPMD
   and turn off plugin via database.
 * Thought this website is run on FreeBSD server and other 4 on LiteSpeed server.

 * Have your checked your PHP Error Logs? I am not sure the issue is that it is
   BSD, you could have LiteSpeed running on BSD, but I guess the system configuration
   is also different.
