# [Plugin: Google Maps] API Key not valid

 * Help!
    Every click in the admin area of my wp installation is followed by an 
   alert:
 * “This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated
   at [http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html.&#8221](http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html.&#8221);
 * Apparently there is nothing wrong with the key.
    The plugin “Google Maps for 
   WordPress” says the key is valid.
 * How can I switch off the alert?
    It drives me mad …
