 * First off this is outstanding!!!
 * The 4 Square support is really the icing on the cake.
 * So far from reading and testing with the plugin it seems that you can display
   2 maps with one of the map tags on the same page. However you cant have 2 or
   more locations in the same map. Is that correct?
 * Also there doesnt seem to be an ability to import locations. Is that correct?
 * Last but not least.. where do i donate to support this project on payday this
   Friday?
 *  :o)
 * GREAT WORK!!

 * Thanks ever so much for the encouragement and support – we’re doing as much as
   we can in the little spare time we have available but have huge plans nonetheless…
 * You can follow our progress more closely within the BuddyPress community site,
   which is where our official forum and donate page can also be found:
    [http://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/donate/](http://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/donate/)
 * Using the “places” post types from the plugin, you can easily have as many maps
   as you like on any one page with each place represented by one marker on the
   map.
 * With the shortcodes, its actually possible to set-up almost anything, but have
   not completed the documentation or thoroughly tested every possible combination,
   but I do know you can:
 * >> Create ad-hoc maps for on-the-fly locations
    >> Create a map that shows ALL
   places as markers >> Create a Foursquare map
 * We will eventually be allowing for combinations (such as places and Foursquare
   activity and so on and so forth), as well as adding hooks and filters that will
   allow this data to be manipulated, but at present, this cannot be done out of
   the box.
 * In addition, we presently have no plans on allowing people to import locations,
   where do you envision them coming from and in what format?

 * I was in hopes of importing locations in CSV format. Not really a big deal but
   it would be nice.
 * Also having the listings show in a list format on a page would be nice. I am
   going to experiment with some sitemap addons to see if i can get it to work that
   way.
 * Using the places post type i was able to show multiple locations.. however they
   were listed in one location per map and a column of maps. Not sure if i am doing
   something wrong or if that is what you mean.
 * The goal would be to have all locations of one type post on one map. For example
   all listings with the post type “food” would show in one map at the top of the
   screen.
 * This is the closest thing wordpress has to a business listing addon like Joomla’s
   SOBI2. With custom fields i think it could come close to matching it.

 * [@litepack](https://wordpress.org/support/users/litepack/) – would much rather
   continue this discussions in the BuddyPress Forums, as it is more suited for
   participation:
    [http://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/forum/](http://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/forum/)
 * However, for those joining in at a later date, I like the idea of importing locations,
   but at present, we still need to (as a gPress community) decide what is best
   for the future of “places”, before we determine how to import and export the
   data for them.
 * There is a discussion in the gPress forum at the moment regarding this:
    [http://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/forum/topic/kmz-files/](http://buddypress.org/community/groups/gpress/forum/topic/kmz-files/)
 * When you say you would want to have the listing shown in a list format, have
   you looked at the “Recent Places” sidebar widget? You can title this whatever
   you like and choose to display as many “listed” places as you like. I guess it
   would be useful to be able to add this via a shortcode on posts and pages too?
 * Each time you add a place, it adds it as a new post type, with one location as
   a marker on the map within “The Loop” of that post type. Depending on how you
   set-up your advanced settings, you can show either posts, places or posts and
   place. It is also possible (using shortcodes) to add a map to any page that displays
   all of the locations within that one map. Some very basic documentation and examples
   of this can be seen at:
    [http://smalley.my/gpress/shortcodes/](http://smalley.my/gpress/shortcodes/)
 * The necessary shortcode for displaying all places on one map is:
 *     ```
       [gpress place_id="all"]
       ```
 * With this in mind, does gPress do what you expected, or do you envision some
   other way of handling posts and places?
 * The only post type presently added by gPress is “place”, so the available post
   types on a standard WordPress install would be “post”, “page”, “comment” and “
   place”.
 * Both posts and places can have categories, and both have their own taxonomies,
   where a post archive would show each post for that category as an individual
   item, so too do the place category pages, showing each location as an individual
   place, as seen here:
    [http://smalley.my/gpress/blog/places/residential/](http://smalley.my/gpress/blog/places/residential/)
 * Adding multiple markers to a single map is more “directory” based in many ways,
   which is why the true power and potential of gPress really relies in BuddyPress.
 * One existing feature for using it with BuddyPress is that not only do you then
   get to add your own “user” location, but you are also able to display a map on
   your user profile page that shows all the geo-tagged posts you have made across
   the entire network.
 * In addition, all of our future directory based features will be specifically
   built for BuddyPress.
 * Have you used BuddyPress before?
 * Have never used BuddyPress… have been reading on that and have a install setup
   on one of my disposable domains.
 * A good place to start experimenting with BuddyPress and gPress 🙂
