Background disappears on the site. Google Chrome says error: Uncaught TypeError: Object function (a, b) {return new e.fn.init (a, b, h)} has no method ‘supersized’

Sounds like a jQuery conflict. I’m guessing your theme has some jQuery hardcoded in it instead of referring to the jQuery files that come with the WP core.
