 * Several attemps to install plugin with a free licence with varying degrees of
   failure. The closest I have got is the install accepting the free licence code(
   that bit failed several times) but even then the orange header bar is still there
   saying installation is not complete – and the functions of the plugin are not
   functioning. Also with the plugin in the semi installed state I was getting an
   Nginx bad gateway errror every time I logged out of my WP admin, so for now I
   have removed the plugin altogether. Help would be much appreciated.
 * _I saw there were quite a few similar topics posted but didn’t find one that
   was exactly the same – apologies if I missed one that I could have used._

 * Hi [@nigelharpur](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nigelharpur/),
 * No need to apologize, the search is available for you and others to find solutions
   to questions that have been asked before, but there’s no guarantee each environment
   or combination of plugins/themes will match an issue you’re seeing precisely.
 * I would certainly first check that you’ve confirmed there are no plugin or theme
   conflicts. Do you experience the same problems completing the installation/accepting
   terms/etc. if you’ve disabled all plugins except for Wordfence and reverted to
   a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four? The most common problems with finalizing
   the installation are solved this way. You can then reenable your plugins and
   theme one-by-one to see when you start having issues again.
 * We generally don’t see too many issues with NGINX specifically, aside from a
   [different way of hiding .user.ini files](https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#hide-userini-nginx)
   but this wouldn’t affect the main functionality of the plugin. If the above doesn’t
   identify another plugin/theme causing the problem, please drop us a diagnostic
   report to **wftest @ wordfence . com**. You can find the link to do so at the
   top of the **Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics** page. Then click on **“Send Report
   by Email”**. Please add your forum username where indicated and _**respond here
   after you have sent it.**_
 * Many thanks,
   Peter.

 * Thanks Peter, I tried again from scratch, this time deactivating all plugins
   first, but sadly only got to the same stage. Everything ‘appears’ to have gone
   through OK, licence accepted and and a success message on screen. But then on
   the dashboard… the ‘orange banner of doom’ 🙂
 * In that status I note that if I run Jetpack Protect it fails with a Nginx bad
   gateway and also when logging out of Admin it gives a Nginx bad gateway too.
   Have removed WF completely again. Also I am now getting an error message from
   my Webmin MariaDB module which might mean more to you than me!
 * **Fatal Error!**
   **_SQL show index from `wp\_wfauditevents` failed : Table ‘wordpress\
   _db.wp\_wfauditevents’ doesn’t exist in engine_**
 * Would _**wf**_auditevents indicate a WF table? Tried deleting and reinstating
   the Webmin module but to no avail – it’s a pain as that module was my way of
   getting to the database for any manual editing, but now I can’t access it.
 * Kinda beginning to wish I hadn’t tried Wordfence tbh – but I know these things
   happen.
