# [Plugin: JW Player Plugin for WordPress] Current Player: Version Unknown

 * I’ve installed the plugin upgrade and on the set up page I get the message “Current
   Player: Version Unknown.”
 * I’ve tried to automatically install, upload 5.2 using the manually upgrade and
   even uploaded directly to the folder via FTP.
 * Any ideas?

 * Hi Andrew,
 * After the upload or automatic download completes we try to show a demo player
   and then we show a message saying whether a valid player was detected or not.
   This is done through javascript. Upon detection the player version is sent to
   the server and stored.
 * When you do the upload or download, are you seeing a player appear or any messaging?
 * Is your wp-content/uploads/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player directory fully
   writable?

 * I wasn’t aware that the player was in the wp-content/uploads/jw-player-plugin-
   for-wordpress/player directory. Once I fave it full writable permissions it worked
   like a charm.
