  • Hey there!

Hmm… that’s odd. If you are seeing lag in the load times, what we can suggest is to disable the Datepicker javascript and also disable the “Custom Styling” from “Settings” -> “MailChimp Setup”:

    http://cl.ly/2r1M2D0F2u2r2y0v3a08

This means that you’ll need to style your form through your sites Style.css file under “Appearance” -> “Editor”.

Let us know if that help clear things up. We’ll be happy to see if there’s anything else going on!

    Cheers

    Hi Nate,

    Thanks for your reply…

I’ve tried this and now roughly the same time is spent in
    http://www.MYSITE.com/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp//js/datepicker.js?ver=5411
    http://www.MYSITE.com/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp//css/flick/flick.css?ver=5411

    Although they execute in parallel…

Is there a reason for adding the version number to prevent caching?

    Thanks!!!

    Hey again!

If you don’t mind sharing, could you send us a link to your site so we can have a peek?

    Cheers

    Sure…

I made the mistake of getting GoDaddy account – the performance is worse than where my site was before… however I am going to leave the site there for a while… (no time to do anything more about that for now)…

Obviously that exasperates the problem, but I don’t think it is the cause of it.

    The site is http://www.thunderbirdsync.com.

You can see a performance report here: http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.thunderbirdsync.com/bkcRvTSw

Look at the timeline and in this report the mailchimp stuff takes 800 ms… generally the plugin seems to add 1 – 2 secs…

Thanks for your help on this…

    Hey there, Andersvinthr2!

After having a peek at the profiles in Chrome’s developer tools, we are seeing the slower load times for this site. However, when we compare it with other sites that are using the plugin, the load times are 1/4 to 1/5 as long as you’re seeing. Unfortunately, it seems like the sites ability to load the CSS might be slowing things down.

At this point, it might be best to go with just the embedded form instead of the plugin. Of course, you might want to try some of the other third-party options as well. That might help cut down on load time, as well.

If we can help with anything else, please don’t hesitate to give us a shout.

    Cheers

    Hi Nate,

Thank you very much looking into this.

So there is no real explanation why this is happening?

I’d really need the subscribe form to be on all pages, so a plugin is ideal 🙂

    Cheers,

    Anders

Well, it appears that the host is struggling to get everything loaded.

As far as adding the form to every page, you should be able to use a text/HTML widget with the embed form code embedded in there. Give us a shout if we can help with anything. 🙂

    Cheers
