# [Plugin: MailChimp Widget] won't accept api key

 * When I enter my api key, the screen simply refreshes. No error, no comment but
   it doesn’t work.
 * I dragged the widget onto the sidebar and got the message that I need the api
   key. Which it doesn’t appear to accept.
 * Using version .87

 * I deactivated all other plugins – akismet, a facebook plugin and a recipe plugin–
   so not many installed at all.
 * This plugin then accepted my api key.
 * However it isn’t adding emails to the list.
 * I was able to select a list from the widget so it appeared to connect to mailchimp.
 * With one email address I entered I got the failure message. I never got a success
   message and the email wasn’t added to the list.
 * I’m using Version 0.8.7 and wp 3.2.1.
 * Any idea what I should check?

   and I’ll be happy to do my best to help you out, then we can bring the solution
   back hear so that others can benefit. I have a feeling this will be easy to diagnose
   one on one, but a bit harder to try and guess what’s going on without being able
   to do it hands on.
