# [Plugin: NextGen] Remove NextGen completely manually

 * Can anybody tell me how to remove NextGen from my site comepletely so that I 
   can re-install it? I tried to install the new version of NextGen Gallery [1.5.3]
   and all my portfolios disappeared from my site. I tried a couple more times and
   I kept getting the following error message:
 * Downloading install package from [http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/nextgen-gallery.zip](http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/nextgen-gallery.zip).
 * Unpacking the package.
 * Installing the plugin.
 * Destination folder already exists. /content/HostingPlus/m/c/mcsherry.ie/web/wp-
   content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
 * Plugin Install Failed.
