    Hello,

This is not the first time it happens. After migrating one website from one hosting provider to another (same domain) or after creating a perfect copy on another hosting (and with different web address), the plugin, which was working good before the migration, stops working. I am pretty sure the migration is done properly because I did many of them and because everything else is working fine, but I also realize that there might be something strictly connected to the plugin that I do not know and for this reason I am missing it, so I was wondering if you could help me to figure out what should I do to troubleshoot and understand the problem.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Max

    Hey there Max ( @maxdestefano ) –

The biggest reason you would have a problem with the plugin after changing hosts is because they have disabled functions or commands, or because they have different hosting limits. Unfortunately, this can be caused by a number of different issues, so let’s start with some basic troubleshooting, okay?

Try following some of these tips to see if we can help isolate the issue you’re having:

    – can you run a database-only backup? (not a complete backup, just database-only)
    – how about a files-only backup? (again, not a complete backup, just files-only — create a new schedule if you don’t want to edit a current one)
    – If the files-only backup doesn’t work, try to exclude your /wp-content/uploads folder, then run a manual backup. Does this work? If so, we know the size of your backup is probably hanging up your server.

Let me know what you find out and we can troubleshoot from there,

    Thanks for your help!
    Kat

Hi there @winner-singh — I’m pretty sure your problem is different and related to the backup itself, and not the running of the plugin, which is the issue on this post. I’ve replied to your other post on this subject to see if we can figure out what happened in your case, though, and am happy to work with you on further troubleshooting there. I’m sorry you had trouble.

As for the original poster, @maxdestefano, I’m also very happy to work further with you on troubleshooting if you check back in!

Thanks, as always, and I’m sorry for the trouble you’re having,
    Kat

    Hello Katmoody,

Thanks for you reply. By the way, I think your plugin is great, especially considering that this is free. I am really glad for it.

    Going back to your questions:

    • In some cases (meaning after some migrations and for some websites) I can, in some other cases I can’t
    • No, files only backup is not working in every case
    • Excluding the upload folder doesn’t change anything

I have a screenshot that I would like to show you. I temporarily stored it here:

but it will last for 10 minutes only. Please let me know if you want me to use another tool or if you want to share your email with me.

    Thanks
    Max

    Hey there –

Are all these sites going to and/or from the same host? I’m wondering if there is a hosting setup change that might be impacting your sites interaction with the plugin.

Also, in looking at the screenshot you showed me, it looks like the new hosting might have issues finding the size of the files/directories. There is an outstanding issue we’re working on regarding a related problem – where symbolic links, SymLinks, aren’t able to be followed and create a loop, making the site size unable to be found, and preventing the running of the backup. This is only impacting a small number of users, so it’s been hard to track it down. There is likely a lot more troubleshooting yet to do before we can fix it completely.

I’m wondering if you can connect with me via our support module. You can start by emailing [email protected] – and then I can work with you through checking a couple of the sites you are having trouble with.

    Thanks,
    Kat

    Hey there –

Since I haven’t heard back from anyone I’m going to close this one out. If you are still experiencing issues please check back in with me or start a new ticket, okay?

    Thanks,
    Kat
