 * Hi,
    I upgraded to PHP 7.2 and since then the plugin doesn’t work anymore, making
   the whole site unable to load / unable to login to WP-admin. I have uploaded
   the latest version of the plugin and when the plugin is deleted then the site
   runs fine, every time I install the plugin the site stops working.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fplugin-not-working-when-upgrading-to-php-7-2%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Try switching to the default theme (Twenty Seventeen) and deactivating all other
   plugins.

 * And then? I need it to work with our theme and all other plugins?

 * And then … contact the theme or plugin author to notify them that their code
   has a conflict with Contact Form 7. As this plugin is one of top 5 most downloaded
   and installed plugins in the WordPress plugins ecosystem, it would be a surprise
   to find any authors who were happy their code is not compatible with CF7.
 * Also note that there are no other widespread reports of PHP 7.2 issues with this
   plugin in the support forum. I run 4 sites that use PHP 7.2 and CF7 without any
   issues.
 * Good luck!

 * Thanks [@pidengmor](https://wordpress.org/support/users/pidengmor/)
 * This is not about compatibility or a _conflict_ with Contact Form 7. I don’t
   think at all the issue has something to do with Contact Form 7. It was just that
   there seemed to be defective plugins or theme so I suggested deactivating all
   of them once to find the culprit.

 * [@takayukister](https://wordpress.org/support/users/takayukister/) I think it
   could be helpful if you modified your response recommending people de-activate
   theme & plugins to include a brief explanation of why you are suggesting this
   approach. I’ve noticed that many new CF7 & WP users misunderstand your response.
 * For example:
 * > This could be due to a conflict with your WP theme or one of the other plugins
   > you are using.
   > Try switching temporarily (nothing will be lost when you switch back) to the
   > default theme (Twenty Seventeen) and deactivating all other plugins to see
   > if the problem goes away.
   > This is a technique commonly used in WordPress to find what is actually causing
   > a particular problem.
   > If it does you can switch back to your theme & re-activate each plugin one
   > by one to see when the problem occurs.

 * [@simonesdesign](https://wordpress.org/support/users/simonesdesign/) I’m using
   PHP 7.2 and CF7 on dozens of sites without any issues.
