 * Hello, tried to update WordPress manually while I have to delete wp-admin and
   wp-includes folder and upload the new ones to the server. But after the wp-includes
   folder was deleted, the plugin does not show anymore the maintenance page, but
   instead shows a PHP warning message:
 * require […] wp-includes/load.php failed to open stream: No such file or directory
   in wp-settings on line 21
 * and
 * Fatal error: require() Failed opening required load.php […] in wp-settings.php
   on line 21
 * Seems as if the plugin needs all these files in order to work. But in this case
   I cannot use it e.g. for updating WordPress, because it won’t show a maintenance
   page then.
 * Maybe there is a solution to this problem?

 * Right, it is a WordPress plugin and it will use WordPress functions, classes
   and more. Much from this is inside the folder, normally. Maybe you should use
   a other update strategy. Maybe you copy the new folders with a different string
   and change to the new version after the upload is ready.

 * Hello, thanks for your answer!
    But isn’t this plugin for just showing a maintenance
   page while WordPress is being updated and files are deleted or replaced? So this
   plugin will not work if I update WordPress manually via FTP by deleting the old
   files and uploading the new ones, only with this much more complicated way of
   copying into different folders?
 * Regards DonTimo
