 * When I activate the Testimonials Plugin, it shows up on the Dashboard menu but
it replaces the option for a slider that I also have installed.

 * Right, I have the theme Corpo installed on [my site](http://notyouronions.com/wbdv243).
It requires the use of the Corpo Toolkit plugin to display the slider on the
front page. However when I activate the Testimonials plugin, the menu item for
testimonials replaces the slider in the admin settings.

 * Which slider plugin is installed? I would guess it’s unlceanly using using `menu_position`
when it registers its custom post type via [http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type](http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type).
 * I would suggest removing the `menu_position` entry from the slider code.
