 * I am using an Amazon linux server, which is becoming more popular. It’s called
   the EC2 AMI. It works as an instance.. which is probably a virtual box. There
   a few problems when running this server with the Apple News plugin. It’s the
   timezone.
 * 1.) WordPress setting shows timezone: New York (Eastern).
    2.) Server date and
   timezone set at: New York (Eastern).
 * When I POST an article, the timestamp in the JSON for Apple News still shows
   a time that’s 4 hours ahead.
 * Then I learned that there’s a “hardware clock” on the linux box.. and that’s
   set at UTC. Well, I can’t seem to change this setting because I’m using a virtual/
   instance server.
 * Does Apple News compile its time using the hardware clock or the server date/
   time? When I show the time in PHP, it shows the proper server/Wordpress time.

 * Got it working! Well, I see the articles now on iCloud.com, but the plugin says
   the articles are not published.. with a status of “N/A”. I guess the plugin isn’t
   syncing with Apple News?

 * Ok, problem happening again on NEW articles. The strange thing is.. when I get
   the message:
 * There has been an error with the API: WRONG_SIGNATURE
 * It happens on articles in the Apple News list that don’t have the SECTION box.
   Older articles have the SECTION for me to click on (Main).

 * I got two sites… one working with Apple News fine.. but the other has problems.
 * 1.) Both have time set to Eastern in WordPress
    2.) Both have UTC set on the
   server
 * One site publishes to Apple News fine. The other produces a “FAILED_PROCESSING”
   error. BUT the articles are in iCloud.
 * Any clue?

 * Happening on new articles now. I’m beginning to think that it’s not something
   with the date. I already refreshed the API Key. I don’t know why SOME articles
   work, but others don’t. It’s gotta be something in the content that is producing
   the WRONG_SIGNATURE

 * Other people have also reported this issue over the weekend. I’ve reached out
   to Apple to see if anything has changed on their end.

 * Can you confirm:
 * 1) Your WordPress version
    2) Which theme are you using? 3) Which Apple News
   plugin version are you using? 4) The exact date/time this started occurring 5)
   Which plugins do you have installed and active?
 * Thanks.

 * NOTE: I tried disabling all plugins and running a stock/default WordPress theme
   and still have the problem. I get “There has been an error with the API: WRONG_SIGNATURE”
   whenever publishing. Server time is EDT, WordPress time is EDT. I was able to
   get 1 article up LIVE .. all other articles sit idled in iCloud but not LIVE.
   ALSO – It’s a NEW CHANNEL (Sebastian Daily).

 * Can you correlate the start of the issue to any new plugins installed or upgrades
   to existing plugins or WordPress core? Just trying to narrow it down.

 * I haven’t added any new plugins since installing Apple News. I did deactivate
   them, moved the theme to default WordPress.. cleaned up all “apple_news” references
   in database and then reinstalled plugin. Same problem. I did open a ticket with
   Apple News asking them if there are any issues on their end. It’s a brand new
   Channel.. which was approved on 10/1. I’ll let you know what they say. It’s just
   weird that I can only get one article in there and then the rest prompt an error.

 * I heard back from Apple News tech support and they said all is fine on their
   end. They are blaming it on the plugin.

 * Well, we haven’t made any changes to the plugin either in the timeframe mentioned.
   Also, I prefer not to use the word “blame”. This is open source software, offered
   free of charge, and we’re all collaborating here for a solution.
 * This will require further investigation. We will look into it, but we can’t guarantee
   a timeframe for resolution.

 * The word Blame was a poor choice in words on my part. The WRONG_SIGNATURE error..
   I wish there was more debugging I can do. Nothing shows up in PHP errors, or
   the WordPress debug.
