# [Plugin: Social] error trying to add account

* I’ve just installed the Social plugin by MailChimp ([http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/social/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/social/)),
but whenever I try and add an account I get the following error:

* POST to [http://x.x.com/index.php?social_controller=auth&social_action=authorized&is_admin=true&user_id=1](http://x.x.com/index.php?social_controller=auth&social_action=authorized&is_admin=true&user_id=1)
failed with 401:
* Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized
to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (
e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials
required.
* Apache/2.0.54 Server at x.x.com Port 80

Could you find the solution to your problem? I am experiencing
the same error when I am trying to integrate social with my WordPress blog.

failed with 404: 404 Not Found Not Found

* Because of how Oauth works (callback), adding of accounts will not work if
a)
your site is not reachable from the internet, e.g. you work on [http://localhost](http://localhost)
b) it is in a password protected folder
