 * I’m using Postie v 1.9.4 and have updated to WordPress 4.8.2
 * I’ve used this plugin for over two years with no issues but suddenly it ceased
   to function three days ago. I haven’t added or activated any new plugins recently.
 * I’m getting the error: Warning: the Default Poster is not a valid WordPress login.
 * So three issues:
 * 1. On the User tab the default poster is set to my user account but the error
   message claims it is not valid. My account is the main admin account.
 * 2. The default poster dropdown list doesn’t display and of the other users (mostly
   editors)
 * 3. Settings won’t save. I’ve entered all the settings for the email server but
   when I click on the Save button, all the settings disappear.
 * I’ve tried deactivating all other plugins but the error message persists.
 * It seems that for some reason the plugin is failing to find the list of registered
   users.
 * Suggestions?

 * Are there any errors in your web server logs?
 * Can you save settings in any other plugin? Postie is using the standard WordPress
   functions for saving settings.

 * Check the “Roles That Can Post” setting as well and make sure at least one user
   is a WordPress administrator.

 * Wayne the Plug in is working Perfectly.. We just need to filter what it posts….
   meaning its posting to much or posting as its intended we where just hoping to
   filter via key words as to what it posts and eliminate some posts that have no
   results… meaning we are still getting notified with emails that bare no results
   and really did not want to over post something that has no relevant information….
 * I saw that the plug in had to user fields under message tab with begin text and
   ending text and did not know if we can use that part of the plug in to filter
   and block some content from being posted

 * I’ve checked the error log but I don’t see anything explicitly about error generated
   by the Postie plugin. I’m seeing this error — “Trying to get property of non-
   object in wp-content/themes/Divi 3.0/functions.php on line 8568” — repeating
   many times around the time I was trying to get the posting by mail function working
   again. The function in question handles the “overwrite_canonical_redirect”. I’m
   not familiar enough with the underbelly of WordPress to know what that actually
   means.
 * As I mentioned, my account it the administrator account. In the “Roles that can
   post” section, the administrator chechbox is ticked but I can’t select any other
   checkboxes (and save the results). Also, in the dropdown list for the default
   poster field, my account is the only one that shows up but the error message
   is still displayed even though it is a valid account.

 * we are getting to much spam and I was asking to see if there was a way to filter
   out and or prevent Postie tom post if it matches key words like No New Symbols
   or or no New or so simply “NO” Our Blog and post areas are constantly have to
   be cleared out with over spam and result-less posts
 * can u help

 * [@ourtechie](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ourtechie/) the next thing to
   check would be to disable all other plugins and switch to twentysixteen theme
   and see if you still have the issue. If not then switch back the theme and plugins
   one at a time until the problem happens again and we’ll know what is causing
   the issue.

 * Hi Wayne,
 * Well, I’m not sure what I did but everything is working fine now. I’ve updated
   all plugins. I turned them all off, refreshed everything and turned Postie back
   on. It works. Then I turned on the most important plugins. Still works.
 * Maybe there was a conflict with one of the plugins that I didn’t reactivate.
   I’ll let you know if I find anything else. The template doesn’t seem to be the
   issue.

 * Glad to hear that it is working again.
