# Plugin Update Failed

 * Hi, I recently took over control of managing a website I’ve been a part of and
   did a bit of updating. I updated to WP 4.0 but I’m finding a lot of trouble updating
   plugins.
 * Whenever I try to update existing plugins or download new ones, I get this message(
   as an example):
 * “Downloading update from [http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/akismet.3.0.2.zip…](http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/akismet.3.0.2.zip…)
 * Unpacking the update…
 * Installing the latest version…
 * The package could not be installed. The package contains no files.
 * Plugin update failed.”
 * Is there anything I can do to resolve this? I’m new to FTP and I’m trying to 
   log into the FTP client to make sure there’s a spot for these zips to go, but
   I can’t get in. Anything?
