Title: Plugin Updates Consistently Fail Last modified: June 22, 2021 --- # Plugin Updates Consistently Fail * [kfutter](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kfutter/) * (@kfutter) * [4 years, 11 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-updates-consistently-fail/) * For about the last month or so, every time I there’s an update available (usually for a plugin), 2 out of 3 times the update will fail, leaving me with an horrendous manual clean-up job, and frustrating downtime. At one point I found myself having to reinstall and reconfigure Jetpack from scratch. My gut feeling is that this is an issue with my hosting, but I thought I’d throw this one out there just in case somebody has a better idea. I guess it would still qualify as a hosting issue, though! However, I would expect a 100% failure rate if it was a permissions issue, whereas it’s more like 70%. I don’t think I have access to php.ini on my hosting platform. I’ll check out those tips tomorrow, but I don’t want to make too many changes at once. This could just be a coincidence, so I’d need to run a few more updates successfully to be certain that the issue has been resolved.
