# Plugin wont delete error msg

 * I have an inactive Mailchimp plugin that will not delete. I only receive error
   message when attempting to delete it. My host attempted and received the same
   error. It’s the only plugin doing so others delete just fine. I already have 
   an active Mailchimp plugin. How do i remove the inactive one?

 * Ok, that’s odd.
 * Access your server via [SFTP or FTP](https://wordpress.org/support/article/ftp-clients/),
   or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting
   provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/plugins/
   and delete that plugin’s directory from there.

 * The error you quoted is a PHP error, they wouldn’t have gotten it by deleting
   the files via SFTP.
