# Plugin wont update

 * Have been trying to update Give – Donation for some time now and keep getting
   an error message saying – An error occurred while updating Give – Donation Plugin:
   The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. 
   This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. includes/libraries/tcpdf/
   tools/.htaccess.old
 * I have spoken with our web hosting company and they advised me to change our 
   php system from 5.5 to 5.6 which i have but nothing has changed.
 * I have basic knowledge of website design (have taken over an already built website)–
   please help in simple terms! 🙂

 * Apologies for the delay. Upgrading your PHP version is a great idea, ideally 
   up to 7.0 or 7.1 is even better.
 * But in the meantime, I’d suggest installing Give manually, via FTP if possible.

 * Overall though, we don’t have others reporting this problem at all, and it does
   in the end most often come from an issue with the web host, not our plugin specifically,
   so leaning on your host to help you would be my best recommendation.
