[Plugin: WordPress Popular Posts] WPP TimThumb 2.0 ?

Any chance to make a choice between WP thumbnail and timthumb?
WP thumbnail doesn work for me, it doesn’t crop image the way i like, it just puts a resized thumbnail image.
My thumbnail is 148×186 and I need it to be cropped to 40×40, but default only resizes it to 29×40

I know about security riscs with timthumb 1.x branch, but 2.0 is secured
