# [plugin] WordPress Stats Issue (#904586405968)

 * I have been trying to get WP Stats to work for the last 3 hours, and still nothing.
   I’ve searched for the error that I received with not hits, so here’s the problem…
 * I use my existing API for a new self hosted blog, and when I go to activate WP
   Stats, I get this line underneath the very uninviting redbox:
 * “The API key “xxxxxxxxxxx” belongs to the WordPress.com account of “xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”.
   If this is not your account, please re-enter your API key.”
 * So I went back to wp.com and setup a new username, thinking that maybe I would
   need a new API for this new site. WRONG! Went back to my site and reactivated
   the plugin, got the same message. So I went BACK to wp.com to verify the email
   address.. same address. WP Stats is still fashionably late to my blogging party.
 * Any help would be awesome I’m at my wits end and don’t want to buy another license
   for Mint to maintain some sort of tracking over my blog.

 * Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Asikmet is working perfectly, it’s only an issue 
   WP Stats. Not sure if anyone else has encountered this after doing a fresh install
   of WP.
