# [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] Cannot Get API key to Work

 * I’m pretty frustrated with this problem, having sspent many hours Googling and
   speaking with GoDaddy ny host. The API key will not work with Akismet, nor WP-
   Stats. Getting 500-Server Errors . What is this? Can anyone explain it? Should
   I forget this plug-in and try something else? Is there an alternative available?
   GoDaddy blocks outgoing http requests so that is probably why the Akismet site
   won’t work, but what about the WP-Stats? I was also told that my Windows hosting
   account is PHP capable so that cURL might be solution, but I am totally clueless
   as to what that is, where it is, or how to use it. I sure would appreciate some
   help. I have a lot to learn, apparently. Many thanks.
