 * Do you have more than one type of variant, Lets say its a shirt, and you need
a Size and Color drop down menu for each. Are you saying that one of the drop
down menus is not showing at all?

 * The correct way to add Variants to WP e-Commerce is as follows:
 * First click on Products > Variations.
Name the fist something like “SIZE”, then
scroll down and click on “Add New Variation”.
 * Next enter something like “COLOR”, then scroll down and click on “Add
    New Variation”.
 * Next, one at a time enter sizes, and colors, NOTE, make sure to have “Variant
Set” set to the proper type (Color or Size), followed by clicking on the “Add
   New Variation” button.
 * On the right side of the screen you should see a tree of COLOR, and SIZE, each
   with sub variants.
 * Then go to “Add New” and enter a name like “Shirt”.
 * Next scroll down to add the variations you wish to use by clicking on the correct
boxes. NOTE you may have to save (update) the post once before you are able to
   add variations.
 * Last click on “UPDATE” and you should then be able to view your product, and
   its variations.
 * NOTE: Anytime variations are revised or added, the product may also require updating.
 * It this still does not work, please reply.

 * I am trying to make a list of items, with variations, but I need it to not show
a variation that is not available.
 * for example, if I a shirt, available in 3 sizes, but only the large shirt comes
in blue. How to I configure WP ecommerce to not show blue as an option for anything
   but the large shirt?
 * I could be wrong, but I dont think WP e-Commerce has this ability, or does it?

 * @ vehicross
 * One way to limit the purchase of an our of stock item is by clicking on the “
I Have Limited Stock For This Product” checkbox, to reveal the Stock Quantity
   field(s).
 * At this point you can enter the quantity of the limited items to zero, etc. Although
the item will still appear on the catalog page.
 * If better variation control is needed I suggest using WooCommerce instead.
 * Also there is a plugin called something like WP e-Commerce Smart Manager, which
allows each product its own SKU number, which is useful. But still may not allow
   better control over product variations.

 * Is it too much to ask for an update with better variation control? Many people
purchase expensive themes that are only compatible with this plugin and later
find out it can’t handle basic necessities that would/should normally be taken
   for granted.

 * Sometimes I wonder if these plugins were created based on the coders needs.
 * But I agree with you time and time again, such minor improvements would make
either WP-e-Commerce, or WooCommerce really nice.

 * > Is it too much to ask for an update with better variation control?
 * To be fair, this is in the eye of the beholder. WPeC is a free plugin – patches
are welcome. Instinct (the company behind the plugin, which I am _not_ employed
by) has put literally hundreds of thousands of dollars into creating and updating
   this **free** plugin.
 * That said – we’re aware variations can be done better. No one is more aware of
that than we are. We have a ticket devoted to the ongoing process that it will
be to create a better user experience around variations.
