# [Plugin: WP Mail SMTP] Useless for multisite network admins

 * This plugin works for single blog admins in a multi-site environment.
 * But the network admin himself cannot use this plugin. Only the blog owners can.
 * In other words: The most important emails (= the welcome emails for newly registered
   blogs) will not be sent.

 * Any news on this?
    If not, does anyone have an alternative solution/plugin?

 * Actually I discovered there is no problem. Have a look in:

   and how it has been solved if you are using AWS EC2 + SES – Read wp-mail-smtp/
   wp_mail_smtp.php header for further explanations

 * Thank you for the feedback sfrassanito. 🙂
    I had totally missed the header at
   the wp_mail_smtp.php 🙁
 * You seem to have the whole thing working out.
    So could you please clarify/correct
   me if and where I am wrong with the 4 different scenarios? When working with
   a multisite, I place the appropriate lines (…mainemail@site.com…) at the config
   file and :… 1. Emails sent from the network admin (welcome, new site, etc) or
   the main site (new user, lost password, etc) will be send from [mainemail@site.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-mail-smtp-useless-for-multisite-network-admins/mainemail@site.com?output_format=md)
   as long as both the emails under _“network settings”_ and _“settings->general”_
   are the same. Correct? 2. Someone from site34 (it is a multisite remember) has_**
   his**_ email (under settings–>general) at: _[hisemail@hisplace.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-mail-smtp-useless-for-multisite-network-admins/hisemail@hisplace.com?output_format=md)_.
   What happens when a new member registers at his site? Or asks for a new password?
   3. Someone from site75 has _**her**_ email at _[hermail@herplace.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-mail-smtp-useless-for-multisite-network-admins/hermail@herplace.com?output_format=md)_
   But wants to use her gmail account at _[herg@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-mail-smtp-useless-for-multisite-network-admins/herg@gmail.com?output_format=md)_.
   Callum mentions:
 * > …I recommend if using the plugin on a multi-site setup, put your settings in
   > wp-config.php and then **disable the admin menu**
 * How can I _“disable the admin menu”_ so she canNOT use her gmail account?
    Moving
   the whole folder wp-mail-smtp to mu-plugins will do the trick? Must I do something
   else? 4. Site99 is a [mapped domain](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/).
   So it is now _newsite.biz_ and _**their**_ email is [info@newsite.biz](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-mail-smtp-useless-for-multisite-network-admins/info@newsite.biz?output_format=md).
   What happens then?
 * I know it is a lot. But I thought I give it a try. 🙂
    Any help is highly appreciated.
 * Thank you in advance

 * 1. Cannot confirm. I believe the answer is no. See 2.
 * 2. User’s e-mail must be verified in Amazon SES otherwise SES reject it. I cannot
   confirm the behaviour since I use the same e-mails. I believe when one registers,
   the network replies, i.e. the e-mail of the plugin. For all the other requests,
   it is used the e-mail of the site’s admin. You should have a look on the wordpress
   documentation. If you already got the answer, please share.
 * 3. If you put the settings in config.php, the admin menu should be disabled automatically.
   See 2. or [SES documentation](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/GettingStartedGuide/VerifyEmailAddress.html)
   for further infos on e-mail verification.
 * 4. Don’t know that plugin.
 * You’re welcome.
