 * How server intensive is this to cross reference to HTTP requests? Let’s say a
   site has high traffic (e.g. 500k per day)… will it considerably slow things down?

 * no problems at all, rules and configuration are loaded from a PHP file, so no
   MySQL overload … the db it’s used only to log attacks (with an antiflooding check,
   so no mysql-log-flooding) and to log logins attempt (same as before).
    Everything
   that is cachable (or storable on the filesystem) is actually cached, so no overload
   at all 🙂
