 * My dashboard shows there are updates needed for plugins. When I check my plugins
list, there is no update shown. I have no way to know what plugin is trying to
update. A few days later, there IS an update shown and available in the dashboard.
I update the plugin, but then the orange indicator still shows that there are
updates needed and no plugin is highlighted for update. This has been going on
for weeks now and even before the latest wordpress update.
 * What is the fix for this problem? Is this a known wordpress bug?

 * Have you made sure that there are no translation or theme updates available that
   may be triggering that notice?

 * Yes, I absolutely check if there is an update for my theme and everything is
   up to date.

 * Have you tried:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well
as server and/or browser caches. – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily
to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this
works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(
s). – If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder
by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also
remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created
such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old. – switching
to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard
to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
If you don’t have access to your admin area, use FTP , or your web-host’s cPanel
or whatever file management application your host provides. Navigate to /wp-content/
themes/ and switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder
by adding “-old” to the end of the folder name. Alternately, you can remove other
themes except the default theme. That will force your site to use it. – If all
the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUAL updating. Download
a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that
to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/
directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server
before uploading the new ones. Read the [Manual Update ](http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)
directions first. -If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including
your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.
 * I know that some of these may not apple but I would try as many as you possibly
   can.

 * Thanks Matthew, I will try to do some of these tips to see if it resolves the
   problem and report back.

 * It appears to be a premium plugin I use called Architect, as when I deactivate
it and reactivate, the false plugin update disappears. However today I installed
a new plugin and the false plugin update came right back. This premium plugin,
Architect, requires the use of the Redux Framework plugin to work. So today,
I deactivated the Redux Framework plugin to see if that cleared the false plugin
update and it did clear it. So I don’t know which plugin is causing the problem
of if it is both the Architect and the Redux. I did try deactivating other plugins
that did not make a difference; however I did not test them all. So I’d say the
problem is not resolved since it keeps coming back. I will try some of the other
   suggestions listed above possibly too.
