 * Hi, it’s not clear to me the role of GIT/github especially in relation to Polylang
   Pro. Polylang Pro is a paid version. But is it downloadable from GIT? So I cannot
   fully understand: is it a donationware?

   hosts the development version of the free version, available here on wordpress.
   org. When I tag a new version on GitHub, I copy it here for it to be available
   where most people expect it to be. Polylang Pro is not publicly available.
 * I used to accept donations in the past. I stopped accepting them when I started
   developing the Pro version. I am now working full time on this project and get
   paid for my work. So I don’t feel that I have the right to accept donations.
