 * It would be great if we could set the language and Bible version for each site
language we are using. What do you suggest?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fpolylang-setting%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Do you have multilingual wordpress site?
    Unfortunately Link-To-Bible currently
   does not support this.
 * I will take a look at it the next days.
Maybe there is a simple solution.

 * You can set the bible version per post, may be that is a quick help, until there
is may be a better solution.
 * From the faq:
 * Can I set the bible version per post?
 * Yes. You can set the bible version using the metadata of a post with ‘LTB_BIBLE_VERSION’
and the abbreviation codes from bibleserver.com ([http://www.bibleserver.com/webmasters/](http://www.bibleserver.com/webmasters/)),
e.g. set the metadata LTB_BIBLE_VERSION=KJV to use the ‘King James Version’ for
   this post.

 * I have taken a look on it.
 * Support for multilingualism is today unfortunately extremely difficult.
 * The reason for this is, that WordPress itself does not support multilingualism
natively, only through plugins (like polylang). For a support in ‘Link-To-Bible’
at least some basis for multilingualism should be available in Wordspress itself,
because I cannot ‘bind’ the Link-To-Bible plugin to any other plugin(s). I am
   very sorry. 🙁
 * I keep the topic in mind …

 * Since the Bible links are inserted during post-save, could I change the language
and Bible translation of the website temporarily, then select all the posts I
want to reprocess and resave in the Hungarian language? What would be the best
   mechanism to do that?

 * The bible links are inserted during saving a post, but updated even on viewing
a post, if the select bible version has changed. So your idea will unfortunately
   not work. I am sorry.
 * But you can set the bibleversion per post, as mentioned above. This will never
   change.
 * I have asked the wordpress team for a (basic) support for multilingualism. But
I did not receive any answer until now.

 * When you say “using the metadata of a post” what do you mean exactly? Reading
   this [https://www.wpbeginner.com/glossary/metadata/](https://www.wpbeginner.com/glossary/metadata/)
I doubt you are talking about author or date. It seems like meta description
could mess up SEO and the way google would display the post. Do you mean a custom
field? I installed Yoast but am still not sure what “Link to Bible” is looking
   for.
 * I understand your reluctance to bind the plugin to another plugin, but both Polylang
and WPML (the main multilingual solutions) clearly mark each post and page by
language. If you know the language, it wouldn’t be hard to build a table.
 * What about basing the language and version on meta data from the category? I
am less concerned about SEO issues and there are less categories than posts to
edit. Still, I need to know are you looking at meta descriptions or something
   else?

 * You are right, I mean a custom field. Here you can read more about it: [https://wordpress.org/support/article/custom-fields/](https://wordpress.org/support/article/custom-fields/)
 * The key of the custom field has to be ‘LTB_BIBLE_VERSION’. The value is the bible
version to use (e.g. ‘LUT’, ‘KJV’; see here for a complete list: [https://www.bibleserver.com/webmasters/](https://www.bibleserver.com/webmasters/))
 * You’re also right that all wordpress plugins for multilingualism (known to me)
somehow store the language of the post.
 * To access this reliably, I would need something called a “Public API”. Currently
storing the language is an internal matter of the plugin (for multilingualism),
which can change anytime. Maintaining this and keeping different versions of “
Link To Bible” compatible with different versions of different (or even just
one) plugin(s) for multilingualism can quickly become a nightmare.
 * Therefore I asked the wordpress team to introduce a public (and maybe abstract,
means not implemented) API for multilingualism. This could then be used by other
plugins to read the language (and more) reliably.
 * I very much hope that my suggestion will be taken up, and I think this would
be helpful for other plugins and applications as well.

 * Thank you Thomas for the help.
Now I’ve added the custom field, but the Bible
references are not recognized. I tested by changing the global default Bible
version in settings and that works. It seems that the custom field is being ignored.
Perhaps you would test this text with LTB_BIBLE_VERSION = HUN as a custom field
   setting on your system. [https://journey2.life/hu/meghalsz/](https://journey2.life/hu/meghalsz/)

 * I find that the links are done prior to saving the post, so for now I can just
set the global variable and save all my Hungarian posts, then set it back to
   English.

 * Oh … I am so sorry … The key of the custom field has to be ‘LTB_BIBLEVERSION’(
   without the second underscore).
 * I am gonne fix it in the FAQ.
