Possession List/Sidebar Widget

    I’m looking for a type of plugin/widget that might work for what I’m trying to do. I’ll explain a little what I’m doing, and what I’m looking for.

    I’m going to be traveling out of the country for some time. While I’m gone I’m going to try and limit myself to a number of possessions. There is a thing going around on the internet that started at guynameddave.com called the 100 Item Challenge. Since I’m traveling I’m going to try and cut down to less than that.

    Anyways, what I want to do is create a page with a list of the items I currently have. I know I can do that with just a standard page and typing a list, but I would like to be able to categorize what I have, and when I get rid of one thing or add another, I’d like it to automatically re-number the list. I’d also like a sidebar widget to go with it that would show either a random item, or newest item, something along those lines.

    Does anyone have any idea of a plugin out there that might work for me? I’ve been looking around but can’t find anything.

    Custom Post Type UI might get you started. I’d create a Page-like custom post type called “Posessions.” And then add the category taxonomy to it. But as for listing them, you’ll have to follow some tutorials to see how to do that.

    You could also just make a “Posessions” page and make each possession a subpage of that page.
