Hi Orla….I’m not quite sure I understand what you mean “find it difficult to install all the features”? Are you wanting to know where in the front-end of a page widget positions are?
Hi there,
Sorry for confusing you. I am a beginner at this. I guess what I meant was that if I needed to have a large plugin say with contact form, map and calendar on a page would that be possible as all the tables are too small for that like Top 3 etc….
Also some widgets don’t come up.. which is probably because I tried to put more than one in a widget location like bottom 2 etc.
Cheers,
Orla.
No worries…even I was a beginner at one point in time, now I make themes. For things like a big map or slideshow, etc, you can put those almost anywhere there is a widget position. So for instance, if you want a big banner style map for your contact page, you would put that in the “Banner Wide” or the “Banner Short” widget position.
Use a plugin like Display Widgets if you want to show a widget on select pages only, otherwise it will show up on all pages (jetpack also has a widget visibility feature that does this if you use jetpack).
Regarding some widgets not showing up…not sure why that is happening for you because they should. Also, it shouldn’t matter if you have more than one published in the same position.
I should also mention that even when you see there are widget positions side by side such as Bottom 1, bottom 2, bottom 3, and bottom 4, that if you just have one widget published in any of them, it will go full width (100%). If you publish 2 widgets in bottom 1, and bottom 2 (for example), each widget then becomes 50%. Likewise, if you put a widget in each of the 4 bottom positions, each one then becomes 25% in width.
Hi there,
That sounds great if it worked for me. I am using the display widgets plugin now. It is a bit like things are frozen I remove plugins from widgets, but it does not change on the website where before it would have. I am experimenting with lots of widgets so that may be causing conflicts. Perhaps i need to disable everything and add one at a time.
The way you describe it sounds great.
Thanks for your answers… I will resolve and get back with more specific issues.
If you have a lot of plugins active, some can cause conflicts with others, as well can cause some issues with WordPress, or even a theme. The best way is to use as little as you can, but when exploring plugins, try them out, and the ones you don’t like or not too sure, delete them. Here is a list of my favourites:
1. Jetpack (which is fully loaded)
2. Display Widgets for selecting pages to show widgets
3. Hide Title for hiding page titles
4. Remove Widget Title for hiding widget titles on front-end
There’s a few more, but ultimately, I now just use Jetpack because it has most of what I need from the list above (except the last 2)
Thanks a lot.
I have found there is a delay in changes occurring when I make them. Perhaps this is a symptom of that.
I am looking for a widget with parties on the front and the ability to put on a graphic on it that when you click it you come to the parties page and the WP-commerce checkout.
Would you know any plugin which can do this?
Thanks.
