Post link embeds not working

    My wife uses post link embeds for other stories on her website in almost every piece she posts, but now they don’t seem to work. Recent updates have all been applied and the site is up to date. She uses Jetpack, and it’s upgraded to 4.5.

    She’s used the feature for a long time, but now they won’t convert. I can paste YouTube links into the same post, and they work just fine.

    There haven’t been any new plug-ins added in months and they are always kept current. After all, the site is designed to be reliable and consistent.

    You are talking about this, right:

    https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Embeds

    If it doesn’t work after the upgrade, it means at least one plugin has conflicts and it is causing the issues.

    I’d like to say this is what I’m talking about, but there is zero confirmation in the document that states you can embed links from your own WP site. The embed works very similarly to the Twitter embed, in which a small box is inserted which displays the post title, featured image, and preview text.

    I am going to cycle through the plugins to see if any are conflicting.

    Through standard process of elimination I’ve determined that the problematic plugin is Jetpack itself. Wow, Automattic. What the hell! Let’s get that fixed ASAP, please!!

    I’ve sent a detailed support request to Automattic regarding this issue. It only interrupts the post link embed function when it’s activated, so JetPack is only modifying WP when it’s authenticated against the WP.COM servers. YouTube and Facebook seem to still work. It seems that not many people use this core function, but if this helps anyone in addition to my wife, awesome 😀
