# Post Types not showing in Basic Setup

 * I’m trying to get started with the Basic Setup but when I look at ‘Activate for
   these post types:’ there are no post types listed.
 * I have created posts in the ‘posts’ post type and also posts in custom post type
   and set the custom taxonomies.
 * Is there something else I should be doing?

 * BTF works with *custom post types*
    [https://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types#Custom_Post_Types](https://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types#Custom_Post_Types)
 * It seems like you’re attempting to use BTF with the “post” post type which is
   a native core post type to WordPress. It can’t be used with BTF 🙂
 * You need to register a custom post type instead.

 * Many thanks for your reply. Sorry I wasn’t clearer – I have in fact already created
   a custom post type but it’s not showing up in the Basic Setup. Could there be
   anything else preventing it from displaying?

 * Okay so whats the parameters for your custom post type when you register it?
   
   It has to be a public post type with archive 🙂
