Posts being held for moderation – why?

    For the past several weeks, every time I post, I get this message:

    This post has been held for moderation by our automated system. It will be reviewed within 72 hours.

    I don’t know why. I am a long-term active participant and try to help others when I can, and others often thank me for my help. But now my posts are delayed for hours or even days.

    I thought it was a temporary problem when it first happened – that perhaps I had inadvertently triggered some sort of response by making a post with too many links, or some other issue I was unaware of. I have reviewed the page at https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Forum_Welcome and haven’t done any of the things it says not to do.

    But as this issue has now persisted I am wondering if someone can review my account to see what the problem is — and either clear the moderation flag or tell me why it is there.

    I really hate this message and need to submit a ticket to get it either changed or just plain removed.

    This post has been held for moderation by our automated system. It will be reviewed within 72 hours.

    It’s not really useful. That’s a stock message and nothing is ever held in the queue for that long. The worst case is 6 hours but in reality it’s always between 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the time of day.

    Almost all of the moderators routinely review the queue and clear out the ones that were caught from the ones that are actually spam.

    But as this issue has now persisted I am wondering if someone can review my account to see what the problem is — and either clear the moderation flag or tell me why it is there.

    I’ve reviewed your posts and I don’t see anything that needs moderation so I’ve removed the tag. You should be able to post without any issue.

    That message is actually really helpful because instead of your post just magically NOT showing up you know that ‘something’ happened. The 72-hours is just a worst-case-scenario, too. It’s usually an hour, but if we all happen to be at a community summit, it MAY be longer 🙂 So y’know, CYA 😉

    Getting caught by the filters happens to everyone. It’s happened to me. Don’t worry about it too much. If it happens again, we usually notice that we’re approving posts by someone who didn’t do anything, and remove it. If it’s because of something you did specifically, you probably got a warning in a post about behavior or such. If not, then it’s an automated system being silly.

    Thank you — I don’t mind the content of the message, as I could tell nothing was being held up as long as 72 hours — it’s just when it persisted over several weeks that I was frustrated. Anyway, I’m glad it’s cleared up now.

    Posting onto old, dead threads or posting “me, too” posts is a good way to get your postings moderated!

    In any case, I’ve reviewed the last year of your posts and removed the moderation flag.
