 * Is there anyway to show a list of posts made throughout the current day?

 * The default index.php does just that. you can set the option at options->reading
   to display posts only from the past one day to show only that, if that’s what
   you want.

 * get_posts lists the last N posts, so if you can-do with the last 10 posts, then
   you could use that function.

   There does not seem to be an existing hack or plugin that does exactly what you
   need, but it should be very possible with a custom hack or plugin.
