 * Hello, Niklas,
 * Around April 25th, our payment system started to fail, we tried different cards,
   but none of them worked. It started showing us an unusual PayPal “Error status
   code: 0” that I never saw before (see Image 1), and of course, nothing related
   could be found on their documentation.

 * I’ve tried the basic stuff, disabling all the plugins and enabling them one by
   one. But nothing worked even with all the plugins being disabled. Not even changing
   the theme to “Storefront” (parent), and right now I’m using its child theme, 
   as usual, but, this switch didn’t do much.
 * I checked the console and found this error (Image 2):

 * Trying to find a solution I ended here but, seems like PayPal is not even responding
   to that thread:

 * Finally, I waited for an upgrade all these days, and two days ago I upgraded 
   to 1.8.0 but the issue is the same, nothing changed except for a new error message(
   Image 3) and, the same console error exists after upgrading:

 * So, I don’t know what else to do, this is killing our business pretty bad, I 
   wanted to try other solutions but there is any support in my country to upgrade
   to PayPal Pro or another international plugin.
 * This was working perfectly, we were very happy with it, we could sell last month,
   but after whatever happened, not anymore.
 * Can you help us to decipher what’s going on? We will appreciate that, tons!

 * The smart card button and fields are handled entirely by the PayPal SDK. This
   doesn’t seem like a plugin-specific issue as nothing changed in that regard since
   April.
    Do card payments not work at all through the smart card button/fields
   for you?
 * Have you tried [reconnecting your account with the onboarding wizard](https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#connect-paypal-account)
   or alternatively connecting a sandbox account to test it in a controlled setup
   to rule out an issue with the account?
 * We brought it up with our partners at PayPal to get some eyes on it as we only
   started receiving more reports about issues with the smart card fields in recent
   days (unrelated to the latest update).
 * If the site is operating from Costa Rica, the PayPal Card Processing likely won’t
   be available as a workaround. But one option to disable the smart cart fields
   could be adding credit cards to the `Hide Funding Source(s)` setting and then
   setting the `Landing Page` to `Billing`.
    Buyers then would have the option to
   pay with a credit card or log into a PayPal account when clicking the regular
   PayPal button.

    In javascript subclass window.console and cath the error ppxo_inline_guest_unhandled_error
   then append your custom error handling code.
