# Problem accessing backend

 * Hello,
 * I volunteer my services in keeping a non-profit
    website running. I just tried
   to access the pages on the backend. I can view pages, but when I go to edit there
   is no content in the editing box(of any page)? Can someone please help? website:

   I am using version: 3.9.2 and am afraid to update to 4.0.
 * Another way of describing above:
    When I access any page on the website, then
   move down to the “edit” at the bottom and click, an empty edit box appears.

 * Is it a theme? Can you make sure the links are going to the page and not a file?
   Did you recently add plugins?

 * I have not recently added plugin.
    I will now disable plugins to see if I can
   access my pages in edit box.

 * I will be away for quite some time. so in the meantime, if the problem is still
   not resolved.
 * If you have access to your database, look in the table wp_options and look in
   the column option_name for [ blog_charset ] and check to see what that is. Mine
   is set to UTF-8
 * If you do not have access, try opening wp-config.php in your site browser and
   see if this line is commented out `define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');`

 * Thanks.
    I just deactivated all plugins and activated them one by one. I found
   the culprit and deleted it. The strange thing is that I have had the plugin installed
   for some time without any upgrades. It just now became a problem?? –Jeff
