Problem creating 2nd slider
-
I’m working on a website using the newly created Divi 5. Metaslider works perfectly provided I only use it for one slider but if I try to add a 2nd slider anywhere on the site, the page with the 2nd slider goes blank when logged out. Removing the shortcode for the 2nd slider allows the page to function again.
I appreciate that Divi 5 is still Public Alpha but this problem seems unlikely to resolve by itself. Can you assist on this?

Hi @briannie. Thanks for using MetaSlider.
We don’t have a copy of Divi 5 Alpha to test here, but we can guide you in trouble-shooting this:
- Is the 2nd slideshow exactly the same as the first one, or is it a different slideshow?
- Do you have any caching plugins on this ite?
Steve
Thank you for the prompt response. The second slider is a different slider with a different shortode number. There is a cache supplied by the host but flushing that makes no difference.
I’ve now deactivated all plug ins except Metaslider and where before I had a blank page there is now some text content on the page but I also see the actual shortcode. I tried using the shortcode of the 1st slideshow which I know works but it does not work as a second showing if that makes sense.
Hopefully you have other troubleshooting ideas that might assistHi @briannie
- Do you see the same problem with a stable version of Divi, please?
- The fact that there is some text now appearing does indicate this may be a caching / optimization problem. Try disabling all of those tools.
We have a full trouble-shooting guide here: https://www.metaslider.com/docs/troubleshooting/
Steve,
Using Divi 4, with two on the same page, only one will work correctly and the other shows all slides in a grid. However, with sliders on separate pages, all works correctly. I also notice that when logged in on Divi 4 the slider is visible whereas on Divi 5 using just one slideshow, when logged in, only the shortcode is visible.
Steve, I have no intention of writing a bad review as I’m sure you guys do your best, and to offer a free version of the software, albeit not the full version, is generous and appreciated I’m sure by a lot of people and certainly by me.
However, in this case I think you may have to go back to the drawing board and make some amends in order to work correctly with what will be the very popular Divi 5. I hope they supply you with a copy very soon. In the meantime I’ll look to another carousel but hope to get back to Metaslider once you have ironed out the Divi issues.Hi @briannie. If you have tried this with Divi 4 and there is still a problem, then there is an issue to resolve on your site.
We’ve tested MetaSlider carefully with Divi 4 and it works without any problems.
Have you tried our troubleshooting steps? https://www.metaslider.com/docs/troubleshooting/
I’m happy the way Metaslider works on Divi 4.
Regarding Divi 5 I have tried the troubleshooting guide but can find nothing there that helps and I really don’t have the enthusiasm to spend further time searching for an answer – sorry. Please remember it’s the Divi 5 issue that needs resolving and I’m happy to hand that problem back to you for resolution which I don’t think will happen without you obtaining a copy of that page builder. I don’t like to mark this as resolved as clearly that’s not the case as it stands.Hi @briannie. Sorry, this isn’t something we can solve yet, at least here on the free WordPress forums.
We’re normally not allowed to support commercial products like Divi here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/guidelines/#do-not-post-about-commercial-products
And it’s always tough to support Alpha-quality software, particularly when we don’t have a copy.
I understand but it might be worth my mentioning that I found another plugin that has a conflict albeit with another plugin and that caused a Divi 4 problem. The developer applied to Elegant Themes who have kindly supplied a copy of their program which he did not have, in order for him to resolve the bug.
It might not be appropriate to go into details here but I’m happy to supply details to a private email if you wish.
Thanks @briannie. Sure, that is the kind of support we do provide for our Pro members.
Here on ww.wp.xz.cn, we’re normally not allowed to support commercial products like Divi: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/guidelines/#do-not-post-about-commercial-product. And we are generally reluctant to support Alpha-quality software, unless a Pro member really wants us to.

Just one final word on this if I may. I now have it working very nicely on Divi 5 but for one issue. When logged out it works as it should but when logged in, the Divi module (I’m using the code module), shows only the short code and the module shrinks to the font height of the short code as shown here https://prnt.sc/xCUO2aBGcRgF Without a proper view it’s then difficult to know how much adjustment is needed to get the padding or margins just right without logging in and out or checking the preview screen and guessing the amount.
I like Metaslider so I will stick with it but it would be nice if it showed the image rather than the shortcode for logged in users. That’s good to hear, thanks @briannie. As Divi 5 nears release, we’ll make sure MetaSlider’s support for it is as solid as it is with Divi 4.
