# Problem installing WP Multisite on local server using Xampp

 * Working on a site redesign where I need to design on localhost and use WP Multisite(
   first time for both of these things for me).
 * I have been able to download and install Xampp, add a database and install WP.
   The problems start when I try and try to pretty permalinks, which I understand
   is necessary for Multisite to work. When I do this I receive this message on 
   the screen:

    Server error!
 * The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.
   Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script.
 * If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
 * Error 500
 * localhost

   PHP/5.3.8 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1 ———————————————————–

   and was redirected here for specific help with Xampp.
