Problem with API key and log in

    I am a newbie, especially to WP so I am not sure how things operate. One issue I find particularly puzzling is trying to get my product key.

    I can get in to my profile, however I am asked for an API key to finalise akismet. When I attempt to do this it asks me to log in to gain access to my profile. When I do this it tells me I am using a username that does not exist When I put in my email address it tells me the same thing. When I came to this forum I had to register and this came to my email address no probs.

    Does anyone know what is going wrong and why I can get an API key

    You’re not far off from getting Akismet working. To get an API key for Akismet create a free account on WordPress.COM at

    http://en.wordpress.com/signup/

    You’ll have the option of creating another blog or just a username. Once you have a WordPress.COM userid, log into your WordPress.COM account and visit

    http://support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

    That link will walk you through finding your API key to use on your self hosted WordPress blog. That API key gets typed into your plugin page and you should be good to go.

    i went through the same process signed up to get my wordpress acount and didn’t get my email confirmation so can’t go forward what do i do now?
