# Problem with HTML code and &gt

 * Hey,
 * we have implemented the plugin into our website. It is really great but there
   is one slight problem. When we want to highlight HTML code, every > is replaced
   with &gt. Is it possible to fix that issue?

 * I’m finding these tags are double escaped. Possibly it’s both SyntaxHighter and
   WP core or the theme escaping its output again.
    - WordPress 5.2
    - SyntaxHighlighter Evolved 3.5.0
 * To reproduce, create a Code or Preformatted Gutenberg block and add code containing
   < or > within a SyntaxHighlighter block.
