I am just wondering if this an issue of the new wordpress version that i actually DISLIKE all this unnecessary blocks and stuff. [https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/) You should be running version 5.0.3 also if you’re not already. * Then do that permalink ‘excursion’ again while saving both times. * If that doesn’t cure the problem itself then you can revert your WordPress Version with this plugin [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/) I recommend 4.9.9 if you need to revert backwards. That will get you out of the 5.X series and I know 4.9.9 is just a few tweaks to 4.9.8 which was very stable. * You may need to do double save on the permalinks after the revert also if you even find the revert necessary. * I’m running 5.0.3 with the Classic editor plugin on many of my own and client’s sites and not having any issues with permalinks so try that first. * Once you get your problem cured, you might want to go into the settings and tweak them to let the system default to Classic Editor with the Block editor selectable when you might want it. Of course, that probably works only with the 5.x versions. Unless I use basic”Plain” version of the permalink which I do not like I get 404 page not found error. I have never has any issues with that before. I know I am blaming new version of the WordPress , it is only think I can think of… I have never happened before . I am wondering if any one had same experience.’ JNashHawkins was kind to suggest resolution, but it did not work 4 me.
