I’m trying to solve a problem with scrolling in the widget. Instead of getting a scrolling list of feed items in the sidebar widget, all the items overlay each other in the middle of the widget’s news item area.

I assumed it must be a theme problem, but now I’m not so sure, because I’ve gotten it working in another WordPress instance using the same older theme. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

    • The site having the problem is here (scroll down the right side).
    • A test site that works is here.

Both sites are now running WP 4.0.1 with version 3.13 of WP RSS multi importer. The theme is a customized child theme of F2, version 1. The theme CSS files (and theme directories) are identical at this point. I simply copied them from the live site (with the problem) to the test site (where it works). The implemented CSS looks pretty much the same in both using the inspector tool in Firefox.

    Thanks!

    Michael

After much more experimentation, I found what seems to have been the problem in another plugin, Menubar. More precisely, something in a modified CSS file for the superfish jQuery plugin used by Menubar.

I didn’t bother pursuing the problem past this point; I just removed the modified template and that solved the problem.

Although this was a very specific problem, it may be helpful to others trying to troubleshoot plugin appearance problems as a reminder to also check the CSS of other plugins, and not just the theme’s CSS.
