Problem with site kit authentication

Hi,
My client has been having problems verifying his site with site kit after migrating it to my hosting from siteground. Every time we install the plugin > activating it> start the setup > he signs in he receives the following error message “you don’t have the permissions to authenticate with site kit”. the site is running a hard https redirect in the .htaccess file.

We’ve tried the following:
Reinstalling the plugin
Tried an older version
Trying another google account
Clearing the cache
Using an incog window
Tried multiple websites browsers
deactivated all plugins
changed name servers from Cloudflare to my hosting ones

The client’s website is: byconstant.co.uk

1) Could provide the Site Health information for the site through this form so we can investigate further?

2) Was your client prompted to log into their Google account and accept permissions on a screen similar to this screenshot: https://jmp.sh/EvfmDdx?

Hi,
I’ve submitted the form. Also, he says yes then it just crashes and throws up that error

1) From what I gather your client has had access to Site Kit before the migration. Is there another administrator on the site that has access to Site Kit currently?

2) Just to confirm: does your client have administrative permissions for the properties connected at the Analytics and Adsense platforms?

3) Lastly, is the WP Dashboard located at “wp-admin”?

With this information, I’ll circle with the team to troubleshoot further on our side.

Hi Renee,
That’s correct he was using siteground before I migrated him but he’s still using the same admin account that he was using previously.

He’s also the owner of all the properties connected

the WP dashboard is indeed located at wp-admin.

@donebyconstant thanks for the follow up and patience as we look into this.

Could you confirm you have full administrator role access to the WordPress site (can you access these settings in the WP admin)? This error should only appear when trying to use Site Kit with a non-Administrator role.

@donebyconstant thanks for the reply! Specifically can you access the WordPress Site Settings under Settings > General from the WP Dashboard? We’re trying to determine if there could have been modifications to your access at the host/ server-side.

@donebyconstant just a follow up that we’re still investigating this issue and will be adding additional checks to Site Kit’s Site Health information to help determine the source of the problem.

A few questions:

– Would you happen to have other sites where Site Kit is connected successfully?
– If so, are they in the same environment?

We just released version 1.21.0 of the plugin which adds the additional checks that may help with this issue.

Could you update and provide the Site Health Information for Site Kit specifically (under ### google-site-kit ###)?
