# Problems updating plugins solved

 * I’ve been reading all over WordPress forums and the net about people having problems
   updating wordpress, plugins and various timeouts. I’ve been having the problem
   too for a while.
 * I just manually updated wordpress to 2.8.5 following the instructions provided
   here: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended](http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended)
 * Now, I’m happy to say, after doing a fresh install I’m now able to use the auto
   update function for plugins again.
