I’m trying to create a page-specific menu of links to external resources using one of the sidebar widgets not used in other pages, but the links don’t function as they should.

I entered this HTML into the Left Sidebar widget:

    `<a href=”http://www.xxx.edu/student-services/advising/veterans-affairs/eligibility.aspx”><b>G.I. Bill Eligibility</b></a>

    <a href=”http://www.xxx.edu/student-services/advising/veterans-affairs/apply.aspx”><b>Using the G.I. Bill</b></a>`

..but when clicked, the links go to an error page because they’re treated as internal, e.g.:

    http://myhappylittlewebsite.cxm/%E2%80%9Dhttp:/www.xxx.edu/student-services/advising/veterans-affairs/eligibility.aspx%E2%80%9D

    (a) What am I doing wrong? (b) Is this behavior not my fault, but a function of the theme? (c) Is there a better way to accomplish this?

Feel free to treat me like I’m your not-so-bright brother-in-law–that is, assume I know very little!

    Thanks!

are you using the text widget, custom menu widget or something else in the sidebar?

Ah, jeez…I hate it when the obvious lies there, snake-like. I was using HTML entered in a text box; I didn’t see the custom menu widget. Back to the drawing board…

    Thanks!

Using the right tool for the job (custom menu widget) did the trick! Thanks!
