# Problems with install

 * Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle!
 * I have just tried to install wordpress onto my website using fantastico. I wanted
   to add a blog to my site. I filled out the relevant fields, all correct as far
   as I could tell. I specified the directory as blog.
 * When I went to visit the blog and when I tried again using wp-admin, it is only
   displaying the directory and index files and not the actual wordpress screen.
 * Any idea why this is and how to fix it?
 * Thanks in advance for any help.

 * If you can via your cPanel disable indexing of folder contents. If not then ask
   your host to do it for you.
 * It could also be that php is not set up correctly and therefore not executing.
   Once again check with your host.

 * Just add the following line in .htaccess which is in your blog directory:
 * DirectoryIndex index.php index.htm
 * This line should be on top in your .htaccess file.

 * I have just spent over two hours trying to install word press. I do not know 
   php and I am not familiar with how to do the scripts nor do I know what info 
   to remove from the config-sample.php form.
 * I am new to this and it seems that word press is just for advanced users of php.
   I don’t see how it takes 5 minutes to install it when I can not get the config.
   php form to work.
 * I think Word Press needs to put a disclaimer in that unless you know how to write
   php scripts you will not be able to install the program in 5 minutes.
 * I finally uninstalled it from my website, but not all the files want to uninstall
   seems there are some permission issues so this will be my next adventure.
 * Does anyone know of any other blog programs that are not so difficult to install?

 * I do not know how to write php script either, but installed wp successfully, 
   just spend less than 5 minutes.
    5 minutes means you should know how to install
   a php engine and a mysql database.
