# Published date changes over time

 * I have a [web site](http://industrialhistoryhk.org) since 2013. I have noticed
   recently that in some of my very old posts the published date has changed to 
   a newer one. For example in [this article](http://industrialhistoryhk.org/choy-fung-ginger-factory/)
   the published date shows as “September 12, 2015” although the correct one is 
   17th December 2013 as I have noted at the and of the article as I use to. You
   can also confirm that by looking at the images url which shows the date as 2013/
   12 ([http://industrialhistoryhk.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Choy-Fong-Ginger-Factory-circa-1906-.jpg](http://industrialhistoryhk.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Choy-Fong-Ginger-Factory-circa-1906-.jpg)).
   
   This is nothing to do with the theme I am using because I ‘ve checked the database
   and the date shown there is also the newer one.

 * I think the theme is showing the “modified date” ( date of the last update you
   made to the post ).
 * It’s using `the_modified_time()` instead of `the_time()`
