Putting WordPress within a table?

Hi,

I’m trying to rebuild the static site http://www.chaosyouthcentre.co.uk/ into a wordpress theme allowing the updating of local information more easily, and therefore, enabling us to promote the use of the site more.

As you can see, when we built the original html static site, we put everything in a table with a width of 780.

I would like to put everything again into a table with a width of 780, including the header.php etc…. everything….

I’ve tried putting the opening table tag within the header.php file and the closing tag within the footer.php file, but it doesn’t seem to be working…..

Any adivce on how I might do this, or the best way to tackle this problem is appreaciated.
