# quote format for posts

 * I’m building a website with blog using Bento. The posts appear on a page with
   masonry format. My problem is that when I use the quote format for a post, code
   appears in the masonry tile and not the title of the post. For the other post
   formats, the title appears in the masonry tile, as it should, just not for the
   posts using quote format. I do not have any knowledge of coding, so I don’t know
   where the code is coming from. However, the quote format for posts uses the title
   for the author of the quote, and I suspect the code I am seeing in the masonry
   stems somehow from that. I have seen Bento examples with masonry tiles containing
   the beginning of the quote used in the associated post –HOW IS THAT DONE?

 * Hey [@joejb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/joejb/),
 * thanks for choosing Bento!
 * Could you please provide the URL of the masonry page in question – I’m having
   difficulties replicating this issue. Cheers!

 * Thank you for your attention to my problem.
    Please know that I have found a
   work-around using other post formats. But you will see in the page two example
   of the problem I face, and I am interested in being able to do this the correct
   way. I am a total novice and may well be doing something incorrectly. Thanks
   again.

 * Well, I have found out what happens, and so solved the problem. When one activates
   page-builder and calls up the siteorigin-editor, code is introduced though you
   do not see it when writing in the siteorigin-editor, neither in the text mode
   or the visual mode. However, if you return to the regular editor (leaving the
   page-builder) and you use text mode you can see the code, which appears mainly
   at the front end of the file.
    The post looks fine when viewed on a blog page
   which has the default template. However, on a blog page using grid-and-masonry
   if the post uses the quote format, what appears in the masonry tile is the code
   that has been inserted in the front end of the file. Remove the code and everything
   works fine. Or, of course, don’t bother with page-builder while setting up a
   post having quote format. Might be worthwhile having some note about this in
   the manual. I have other thoughts too about stuff missing from the manual.

 * Thanks, [@joejb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/joejb/), we’ve [updated the manual](https://satoristudio.net/bento-manual/#post-formats)
   for now and will investigate ways to solve this issue on the code-level as well.
 * Would be extremely grateful if you could share other ideas about things to be
   added to the manual!

 * As a complete novice, a lot was very clear on first working with Bento. However,
   I wanted more help in learning how to get masonry tiles working well. For example,
   I don’t think the manual mentions that the image on the tile is sourced from
   the feature image of the relevant post, and the text is sourced from the title
   of the post (except for the case of a quote post!). Perhaps I missed it and this
   is in the manual– in that case, I would be grateful if you would point me to
   it since I would learn better how to use the manual.
 * Fine modification to the description of the quote format for posts.
    By the way,
   there is a typo in the description of the aside format for posts. the word “thoughts”
   lacks a “t.”
 * I also ran across a different problem, that is manifested in a main Bento demonstration
   webpage. I will bring that up in a new post to the forum.
    Happy New Year.

 * Thank you so much for the suggestions! We’ve added more information to the [Grids and Layouts](https://satoristudio.net/bento-manual/#page-layouts)
   part of the manual, as well as [Post Formats](https://satoristudio.net/bento-manual/#post-formats)
   section. Such feedback is invaluable for us since it helps make the theme’s experience
   smoother for all users.

 * How can a link be added to a quote post without it messing up the masonry tile?
   Could the theme prioritize excerpt text over post content? Thus, the quote could
   be put into the excerpt field (or rather the part of the quote you want to be
   displayed in the masonry field), and the post content box would be used for the
   single post display…

 * Hey Matthias,
 * at the moment the theme does not envisage quote tiles acting as links – but we
   will consider implementing this in the next iteration.
